A rare and exceptional Islay single malt, aged for a quarter century in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Ardbeg is the most heavily peated of the Islay distilleries, and 25 years of maturation has transformed that signature smoke into something profoundly complex — maritime peat blends with dark chocolate, espresso, dried fig, and an almost incense-like sweetness. The palate is extraordinarily long, with waves of brine, smoked vanilla, and a gentle medicinal note that recalls the old-style Islay malts. At 46% ABV (non chill-filtered), the texture is oily and rich. This is a whisky for slow, contemplative drinking — no ice, no water needed. One of the most acclaimed Ardbeg releases in recent memory. A collectible as much as a dram.
