Barrelheads was founded in London in 2013 with a straightforward idea: the drinks industry rewards genuine attention. Whether that means sitting with a private collector to understand their palate, or working alongside a brand owner to build a commercial strategy that actually delivers — the principle is the same. Listen first. Then act with focus.
On one side of the business, we operate The Private Cellar — a personal wine programme for individuals who want to understand what they drink, not just collect it. On the other, we partner with drinks brands across gin, tequila, mezcal, prosecco, rosé, whisky, lager, and more — providing the strategic sales, distribution, and brand development infrastructure they need to grow in the UK, Europe, and beyond.
What connects both sides is a deliberate refusal to operate at scale for its own sake. We keep our client list small and our brand portfolio focused. Every relationship gets proper attention. That is how we were built, and it is how we intend to stay.
The Private Cellar
A personal wine programme built from what you already like. It begins with a short questionnaire and a conversation — we learn your palate, your pace and your curiosity, then plan the first two or three flights.
Each flight is six bottles that belong together, with a booklet for each wine and a session where a sommelier opens them with you. Between flights you can message us about anything: a wine list in a restaurant, a bottle someone brought round, a case you're wondering about.
