A Premier Cru Burgundy from one of Beaune's finest vineyard sites, produced under the historic Hospices de Beaune label. The Grèves vineyard sits on the mid-slope of the Beaune hillside, where iron-rich clay over limestone produces Pinot Noir of particular depth and structure — unusual for Beaune, which is often seen as the gentler side of the Côte d'Or. The Pierre Floquet cuvée is named after one of the Hospices' historic benefactors. The 2014 vintage was excellent in Beaune — a late-ripening year that preserved beautiful acidity. Expect red cherry, wild strawberry, a touch of iron and earth, and fine, silky tannins. After a decade, this wine has entered its drinking window and is showing beautifully. Serve at 15-16°C. Wonderful with roast duck, coq au vin, Époisses, or wild mushroom dishes.
